Ralph Eberhart

Ralph Edward Eberhart ( born December 6, 1946) is a former general of the U.S. Air Force, who was both Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force and commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command ( NORAD ) and U.S. Northern Command ( NORTHCOM ).

Life

After school he studied political science at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts ( BA Political Science ). After his subsequent entry into the U.S. Air Force, he was also used in combat in the Vietnam War and later graduated from postgraduate studies in political science at Troy University, where he graduated with a Master of Arts (MA Political Science ) in 1977.

After use as commander of the 363rd Tactical Fighter Wing from 1987 to 1990 he was deputy chief of staff of the U.S. Air Force for inspection, protection and security ( Deputy Chief of Staff, Inspection, Safety and Security ). This was followed in 1991 as a brigadier general, he was appointed Director of Programs and Evaluation in the U.S. Department of Defense, before he was there from 1994 to 1995 after his promotion to major general on 1 July 1993 director for force structure, resources and assessment.

Subsequently, he was lieutenant-general deputy chief of staff of the U.S. Air Force for Planning and Operations ( Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans and Operations ) and then from 1996 to 1997 commander of U.S. Forces Japan. After he served as General 1997-1999 Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force, he became commander of the Air Combat Command (ACC ) at Langley Air Force Base.

He was most recently on 22 February 2000 to 5 November 2004 Commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command ( NORAD ) on the Peterson Air Force Base. As such, he was on 22 October 2002 to 5 November 2004 at the same time the first commander of the newly created U.S. Northern Command ( NORTHCOM ).

After his retirement from active military service, he was 2004 President of the Armed Forces Benefit Association and also took on tasks also in the private sector. Eberhart, who is also active in the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Boards of Directors of the Object Video Inc. and Standard Aero Holdings, Inc. and since 2007 of Rockwell Collins since 2005. He was also temporarily a member of the Boards of Directors of 5Star Bank and the VSE Corporation.
