Ralph St. Germain

Ralph E. Saint- Germain ( born January 19, 1904 in Ottawa, Ontario; † August 2, 1974 ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach.

Career

Ralph St. Germain attended McGill University, where he played in parallel with his studies, ice hockey and Canadian football. From 1926 to 1928 he was captain of the hockey team. When he took in a college game in 1928 against his doctor's arrangement and despite illness and high fever, he collapsed on the ice and almost died. In 1931 he received his degree in Economics from McGill University. From 1931 to 1936, he played amateur hockey for the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association, which in 1932 changed its name to the Montreal Royals. As a guest player, he represented Canada at the Port Athur Bearcats at the Olympic Winter Games 1936. Following the tournament, he was a hockey coach of the junior team of McGill University. In addition, he played from 1937 to 1940 for the Ottawa Senators of the Quebec Amateur Hockey League.

Internationally

For Canada, St Germain took part in the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, where he won the silver medal with his team.
