Rama

Rama or Ram (Sanskrit, m., राम Rama ), also Ramachandra ( रामचन्द्र Ramacandra ), according to the teachings of Hinduism is the seventh incarnation of Vishnu, a Hindu God. He is regarded as formed, beautiful and equipped with all the royal features. From his followers Rama is worshiped as Brahman, that is, as the transcendent, immutable elemental force or soul of the world, in which the Atman converts, which in turn means the dissolution of the individual soul. His story is told in the Indian epic Ramayana.

Rama is the eldest of the four sons of King Dasaratha. He meets Sita in the king Janaka court, where he wins a archery ( with the bow of Shiva, he can stretch the only one ). Rama married Sita. In Bhagavatapurana another scripture of Vaishnavism, is found in 9:10 f a summary of events from the Ramayana. Rama's birthday Ramnavami is an important festival of Hindus. It falls on the ninth day of the waxing moon in the month of Chaitra (March / April).
