Rampside is a village south of Barrow-in- Furness on the southern edge of the Furness Peninsula, on the northern edge of Morecambe Bay.

In the records of the monks of Furness Abbey Rampside is mentioned in 1292 for the first time.

In the 18th century Rampside was greater than Barrow-in- Furness and a well-known seaside resort. The poet William Wordsworth visited the site frequently.

The village has a small port and is located on the mainland side of the dam that connects Roa Iceland to the mainland. The main employer of the town are the Rampside Gas Terminal and the Rosecote Power Station. Natural gas from gas fields in Morecambe Bay and the Irish Sea comes ashore here and operates, among others also the power plant Rosecote.
