Ramstein-Miesenbach

Landstuhl is a city in Rhineland-Palatinate district of Kaiserslautern and administrative center of the homonymous municipality, which it also belongs. Landstuhl is a nationally recognized tourist and reported as a secondary center in accordance with state planning.

Landstuhl is located about 20 kilometers west of Kaiserslautern at the edge of the biosphere reserve Palatinate Forest.

Landscape

History

In a document of Emperor Barbarossa Ramstein was first mentioned in 1215.

1951, Ramstein Air Base was built, which is now the largest U.S. base in Europe. The airbase in Ramstein originally used a part of the highway Mannheim- Saarbrücken airstrip.
