Rand Holmes

Rand Holmes (aka Randolph Holton Holmes, born February 22, 1942 in Truro ( Nova Scotia ); † 15 March 2002 Nanaimo ) was a Canadian comix artist.

Holmes grew up in Edmonton. In 1969 he came to Vancouver, where he was working as an illustrator for the alternative weekly newspaper The Georgia Straight. He drew next to the title pages of the one - sided Harold Hedd Comix about a pot-smoking, long-haired joker of the hippie era. The German publisher Raymond Martin persuaded him to create a long history of albums to the protagonists and so was the 1982 album Hitler cocaine. In that year, Holmes moved with his wife to the island of Lasqueti Iceland.

Holmes fell ill on Hodgkin's lymphoma and died 2002.
