Randall "Tex" Cobb

Randall Craig "Tex " Cobb ( born May 7, 1950 in Bridge City, Texas ) is an American boxer and actor.

Life

Cobb grew up in Abilene, where he attended high school and the university. At the age of 19 years, he broke off his education and began a career as a boxer. He moved to Philadelphia and trained in a run by Joe Frazier boxing school. First he fought successfully as a kick boxer, then he switched to boxing. In 1977 he had his first professional fight, which he won by TKO against Pedro Vega. His next 13 fights he won by knockout, against Roy Wallace, he won on points. After further victories, including against Earnie Shavers, he joined in November 1982 in Houston in the title fight against Larry Holmes, the reigning heavyweight champion of the WBC. The fight went the full distance of 15 rounds and went to points clear at Holmes. Cobb went to twice against Michael Dokes, but lost both fights. 1988 Cobb ended his career after defeating Leon Spinks. In 1992 he had a brief comeback, after ten fights he retired a second time from boxing.

Cobb's career as an actor began in 1979 in the Oscar - nominated feature film The Champ with Jon Voight and Faye Dunaway in the lead roles, in which he had a small role as a boxer. From the 1980s, he had guest roles in various television series such as Miami Vice, MacGyver and Married with Children. He also had supporting roles in many successful feature films, including the comedy film In Search of The Golden Child starring Eddie Murphy, the fourth installment of the Police Academy film series, and The Naked Gun 33 ⅓. He also joined the mid-1990s on in two Jim Carrey comedies.

2008 Cobb took at the age of 57 years according to his degree. In the Temple University Philadelphia his adopted home, he received the Bachelor's degree in Sports.
