Randall William Cook

Randall " Randy " William Cook ( born 1951 or 1952) is an American special effects artist who the Oscar for Best Visual Effects won three times.

Life

He made his 1969 high school graduation at the Castro Valley High School in Castro Valley, California. After that he went to film school at University of California, where he studied the art of acting until 1975. There was an animation training program at Disney, where he was working, among other things as the voice of Mickey Mouse, but it refused. 1977 followed by the first film, The Crater Lake Monster, in which he worked as an assistant animator model.

1984 to 1985 he worked for the special effects company Entertainment Effects Group ( 1984 Boss Film Studios renamed) on such films as 2010 - The Year We Make Contact, Ghostbusters - Ghostbusters and Fright Night - Fright Night. In the nineties was followed by movies like Dragon World, for which he participated for the first time as head of digital effects and Highway to Hell. In 2001 he was hired as an animation designer for the Lord of the Rings trilogy at Weta Digital. He was known especially for the animation of Gollum. He received the trilogy three times the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
