Randolph County (Alabama)

Randolph County is a county located in the state of Alabama in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Wedowee. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in eastern Alabama, bordering Georgia and has an area of 1513 square kilometers, of which eight square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Chambers County, Tallapoosa County, Clay County and Cleburne County.

History

Randolph County was formed on December 18, 1832 from the former territory of the Creek Indians. It was named after John Randolph, a statesman from Virginia. Wedowee is since the founding of the county the county seat.
