Randolph County (North Carolina)

Randolph County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Asheboro, named after Governor Samuel Ashe.

Geography

The County is located just west of the geographic center of North Carolina and has an area of ​​2046 square kilometers, of which 7 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Guilford County, Alamance County, Chatham County, Moore County, Montgomery County and Davidson County.

Randolph County is divided into 22 townships: Asheboro, Archdale, Back Creek, Brower, Cedar Grove, Coleridge, Columbia, Concord, Farmer, Franklinville, Grant, Level Cross, Liberty, New Hope, New Market, Pleasant Grove, Providence, Randleman, Richland, Tabernacle, Trinity and Union.

History

Randolph County was formed in 1779 from parts of Guilford County. It was named for Peyton Randolph, the first President of the Continental Congress.
