Randolph County (West Virginia)

Randolph County is a county located in the state of West Virginia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Elkins.

Geography

The County is located in the northeast of West Virginia, is located in the southeast about 10 km from the border with Virginia and has an area of ​​2693 square kilometers, of which one square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Tucker County, Pendleton County, Pocahontas County, Webster County, Upshur County and Barbour County.

History

Randolph County was formed on October 16, 1786 from parts of Harrison County. It was named after Edmund Randolph, an American attorney, Governor of Virginia, U.S. Secretary of State and the first U.S. Attorney General
