Randowtal

Randowtal is a municipality in the district Uckermark in the north- east of Brandenburg ( Germany ). It belongs to the Office Gramzow.

Geography

The Uckermark community Randowtal lies to the east of the county town Prenzlau and extends from the ground moraine between the parallel valleys of the Ucker and Randow about the Endmoränenbogen on the western edge of the valley Randow up to Randow, which forms the border of Mecklenburg -Vorpommern. While the bottom of the Randow - glacial valley about 17 m above sea level. MSL, the Endmoränenhügel collect up to 80 m above sea level. NN. The small lakes speckled landscape is used apart from small forest areas on the hillsides for intensive agriculture.

History

The municipality was created on 31 December 2001 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities Eickstedt, Schmölln and Ziemkendorf.

Eickstedt 1271 was first mentioned in a document. The name is connected with Dominus Fredericus de Ecstede and the extended family of Eickstedt. The knights ( around 1700 are in Eickstedt three knights seats occupied) prevailed in the area between Prenzlau and Randow. The name of Eickstedt appeared later under colonial officers, senior officials, district administrators and explorers.

1239 was Schmölln, 1288 Schwaneberg and Ziemkendorf first mentioned.

Transport links

Thanks to the southeast of the municipal area leads the A 11 (Berlin -Stettin ), near the village of Schmölln is the same junction. Country roads leading to surrounding cities Prenzlau, Bruessow and Penkun. The nearest rail connection is in Prenzlau about 14 km away, after the branch line Prenzlau - Eickstedt - Löcknitz was decommissioned on 30 June 1997.
