Randy Jackson (The Jacksons)

Steven Randall " Randy " Jackson ( born October 29, 1961 in Gary, Indiana) is an American singer and musician. He is a former member of The Jacksons ( The Jackson Five). His parents are Joseph Jackson and Katherine Jackson, he is a brother of pop singer Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson. Randy Jackson is the ninth child of the youngest son of the Jackson family.

Musical career

As a child he first learned to play the piano.

Jackson Five

From 1972, he had, often together with his younger sister Janet Jackson with the Jackson Five guest appearances, mostly as a percussionist. As a result, he also learned to play the drums from the drummer of the Jackson Five.

The Jacksons

When the Jackson Five in 1976 the record company changed, and had to call for contractual reasons, since the Jacksons, he replaced Jermaine Jackson, who remained the same label as a singer. At the age of 16, he wrote with his brother Michael Jackson 's most successful single for the Jacksons Shake Your Body ( Down to the Ground ). On the recordings, he played as a multi- instrumentalist drums, guitar, bass guitar and keyboards, and therefore sometimes referred to him not only his brother Michael as the best musicians in the family. As such, he worked with on some solo recordings of his brother, such as on the hit album Off the Wall.

In February 1980 ( exact circumstances unknown) was Randy Jackson seriously injured in a car accident. He reportedly suffers since then under a slight handicap.

Fortunately, Randy was full able in 1981 to participate in the "Triumph Tour" The Jacksons and in later projects of the band. After the Victory Tour ( 1984) Michael and Marlon left the band. Randy and his remaining three brothers published a last album, 2300 Jackson Street.

Randy & the Gypsys

End of 1989, Randy formed his own band " Randy & the Gypsys ". Your first appearance ended in a fiasco, because Randy did not come out of his cabin due to stage fright. Nevertheless, the band got a record deal and produced an album. On tour but never went.
