Randy Jackson

Randall " Randy " Darius Jackson ( born June 23, 1956 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana) is an American bassist, singer, and record producer. He is known primarily for his work as a member of the jury of the U.S. talent show American Idol and as a producer of MTV 's America 's Best Dance Crew.

Life

Jackson was born in 1956 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His first marriage with Elizabeth Jackson, with whom he has a daughter, Taylor, was divorced in 1990. In 1995 he married Erika Riker, with whom he has a daughter named Zoe and a son named Jordan. In 2003, he lost after a gastric bypass surgery 52 kg. In February 2008, he announced on television that he has type 2 diabetes.

Career

Music

At the beginning he played in bands with Carlos Santana and Jerry Garcia. In the early 1980s he took with Jean -Luc Ponty and the rock band Taxxi on three albums. From 1986 to 1987 he was a member of the rock band Journey.

As a bass guitarist, he worked with numerous musicians. These include Tracy Chapman, Kenny G, Aldo Nova, Blue Öyster Cult, Jon Bon Jovi, Michael Bolton, Clarence " Gatemouth " Brown, Billy Cobham, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Herbie Hancock, Ernie Isley, Billy Joel, Brent Bourgeois, Richard Marx, George Michael, Stevie Nicks, Imogen Heap, Bruce Springsteen, Roger Waters, and Madonna. He also worked as a producer for Whitney Houston and * NSYNC, as music director for Mariah Carey.

Dance Like There's No Tomorrow On 11 March 2008 Jackson released his first album called Randy Jackson's Music Club, Vol 1 His first single was sung by Paula Abdul. In 2009 he collaborated with the former American Idol finalist Kimberley Locke, producing her fourth album. In February 2010 he took on the song We Are the World 25 for Haiti as part of the Artists for Haiti.

American Idol

Since 2002, Jackson has been a jury member of the U.S. talent show American Idol. He worked with Paula Abdul (2002-2009), Simon Cowell (2002-2010), Kara DioGuardi (2009-2010) Ellen DeGeneres (2010 ) Jennifer Lopez ( 2011-2012) and Steven Tyler ( 2011-2012). In the current season can be seen on the jury alongside Jackson and Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban. Jackson is the only one on the jury, who since the beginning of the show here.

America's Best Dance Crew

Jackson is a producer of the TV show America's Best Dance Crew on MTV. The first broadcast on American television was on 7 February 2008. On June 13, 2012 ended the seventh season. Each week, these different groups in terms of their talent choreography and dance skills before a group end up being voted out by the jury. The winner receives a cash prize of € 100,000.
