Randy Williams

Randy Luvelle Williams ( born August 23, 1953 in Fresno, California ) is a former American track and field athlete in the long jump. At a height of 1.78 m his competition weight was 69 kg.

Williams stood at two Olympic Games on the podium. In 1972 he took in Munich with 8.24 meters, the gold medal ahead of Hans Baumgartner (West ) and his teammate Arnie Robinson, 1976, in Montreal silver with 8.11 meters behind Arnie Robinson.

In qualifying for the Olympic final in 1972 Randy Williams jumped 8.34 meters. This performance was not only the Jahresweltbestweite from 1972, but is still existing junior world record. This Junior World Record has thus longer stock than the two legendary world records by Jesse Owens in 1935 and Bob Beamon 1968 in the adult class.
