Ranica

Ranica is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 6002 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy. The municipality is part of the Parco dei Colli di Bergamo and is about five kilometers northeast of the provincial capital of Bergamo. The place is within the Val Seraiana.

First mentioned in records of the location is 881 in a deed as Andrei de Larianica. The name probably comes from the name villa Hilarianica. Presumably here a goods Hilary located.
