Ranking Joe

Ranking Joe ( previously also: Little Joe, actually: Joseph Jackson, born July 1, 1959 in Kingston ( Jamaica) ) is a Jamaican reggae musician and deejay.

Career

Born as Joseph Jackson musicians already had some experience as a DJ with sound system, as Coxsone Dodd took him in the mid -1970s under his wing and the young, inspired by U-Roy musicians for his sound system El Paso Hi- fi committed. Still in his first stage name Little Joe he took in 1975 in Dodd's Studio One his debut single on Gun Court. He then worked with various other producers together, founded together with U-Roy own sound system and called himself Ranking Joe. From the late 1970s brought with Weakheart Fade Away Dub It in a Dance, Saturday Night Jamdown syle and Round the World, a series of his own albums out, and started next to, even to work as a producer.

The early 1980s has been ranking Joe after a UK tour with the Ray Symbolic Hi- Fi sound system outside of Jamaica popular. Despite some success, the sound system broke up again and Ranking Joe devoted himself increasingly to the producer activity. He worked for King Tubby as one of the producers involved in Dangerous Dub. After moving to New York Joe recordings produced among other things, Frankie Paul, Black Uhuru, Dennis Brown, Glen Washington, Glen Brown, The Meditations, King Tubby, Shinehead and Papa San In the 1990s and 2000s, Ranking Joe took his own songs again and brought with Fast Forward to Africa and ghetto People out more solo albums.
