Ransweiler

Ransweiler is a municipality in the Thunder Mountain district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Rockhausen.

Geography

The place is located in the north- Palatinate mountains west of Mount Thunder in beautiful, high location between Kaiserslautern and Bad Kreuznach.

To Ransweiler part of living space Birkenhof and part of the hamlet of new building, which also extends to the municipality of Bayerfeld - Steckweiler.

History

Ransweiler was first mentioned in 1190 and belonged to the French Revolution to the Duchy of Pfalz- Zweibrücken. After the French Revolution, the town was incorporated into the French department Thunder Mountain. As a result of the Vienna Congress, he was from 1816 to 1945 Bavarian. After the Second World War Ransweiler was part of the French occupation zone and was incorporated into the newly formed 1946 State of Rhineland -Palatinate.
