Raoul Servais

Raoul Servais ( born May 1, 1928 in Ostend, Belgium) is a Belgian filmmaker, who primarily dedicated to animated films.

Life and work

Raoul Servais studied art at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent and experimented in 1946 in the field of animated film. Nevertheless, he worked as a painter and graphic artist, as he end of the 1950s was devoted to the film. For his debut film, the ten -minute animated film Harbour Lights, which was created in a production period of about three years, he developed new, downright experimental techniques. In other works he perfected his ideas, and this combined film footage and animation, so that he finally his own animation method, the " Servaisgraphie " developed.

Raoul Servais is honored for his work in many cases.
