Rapala ( formally Rapala VMC Corporation) is one of the leading manufacturers of fishing accessories. The Company's shares are traded on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.

History

Rapala was founded in 1936 in Finland by Lauri Rapala. The most famous products are the lures. The models Shad Rap, Jointed original and are considered the three best selling wobblers world. In 1959, Rapala expanded into the USA in 1964 fishing knives were added to the product range. Rapala went in 1989 to the stock market. The wholly owned subsidiary of Rapala VMC is one of the largest fishing hook manufacturers worldwide.

Rapala sells more than 20 million lures in over 140 countries. There are also sold knives, other anglers tools and video games for the Microsoft Xbox, Sony Playstation and Nintendo Wii.
