Raphaël Collin

Louis -Joseph- Raphaël Collin ( born June 17, 1850 in Paris, † October 21, 1916 in Brionne, Eure ) was a French painter and illustrator.

Life

Raphaël Collin studied at the Art School in Saint -Louis, after which he went to Verdun, where he continued to study at the private school of the painter Jules Bastien- Lepage. Back in Paris, he worked as an assistant by the painter William Adolphe Bouguereau. 1898 Collin was appointed professor at the École des Beaux -Arts. Among his pupils were, among others, Paula Modersohn -Becker, Theodor Hörmann, Fritz Klein, Kuroda Seiki, Kume Keiichiro and Okada Saburōsuki.
