Raphael Maier

Raphael Maier (born 9 August 1992 Innsbruck) is an Austrian skeleton athletes.

Life

Raphael Maier lives in rum in Tyrol. He began 2006 with the sport of skeleton and belongs since 2008 to the national team of Austria. His international debut was in December 2008 in Winterberg, where he was 23. The highlight of the first season were the Junior World Championships 2009 in Koenigssee, where he went to eleventh place. Then he reached in St. Moritz in ninth place for the first time a top ten ranking in the European Cup. The 2009/10 season began with a sixth and a fifth place in the European Cup race in Koenigssee. The fifth place is so far his best result in this series. After that Maier could first go to the start in Skeleton Intercontinental and was successful in Koenigssee 19 yet Maier was in the post-Olympic season 2010/11. He first started in Park City in two races in the Skeleton America's Cup, where he was fifth and fourth. Also in the European Cup, he was able to achieve its best result a fifth place in Cesana. In the overall standings of the competition Maier was 2010/11 ninth. In Igls he gave his debut in January 2011 in the Skeleton World Cup in which he was 23. The following race in Winterberg was also the Skeleton Championship 2011 in the European Championship standings, he came on the 14th Place. As 20 in St. Moritz, he reached a top 20 placement in the World Cup for the first time. The Junior World Championships 2012 in Innsbruck finished fourth. The Austrian team, including his brother Benjamin Maier ( 4-man ), he participated in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi (Russia).
