Raphael Wallfisch
Raphael Wallfisch (* 1953 in London ) is a British cellist.

He was born into a family of musicians. His mother was a cellist and his father pianist. The mother, Anita Lasker -Wallfisch is one of the last known survivors of the girl orchestra of Auschwitz. It was soon clear that he would devote his life to the cello, and he enjoyed from the beginning training with teachers such as Amaryllis Fleming, Amadeo Baldovino and Derek Simpson. He currently lives in London with his wife, Elizabeth Wallfisch ( the violinist is ). He has three children: Benjamin, Simon and Joanna.
Achievements
Today he is a famous cellist, whose teachings and concerts are popular all over the world. He taught, for example, the Department of Music of the Zurich University of the Arts and at the Musikhochschule in Mainz. Raphael Wallfisch is a laureate of the International Cello Competition " Gaspar Cassadó " in Florence. He has also realized some CD recordings with works by Britten, Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich.
