Rashtrapati Bhavan ( राष्ट्रपति भवन; Hindi for " President's House " ), the official residence and residence of the Indian president. It is west of the India Gate and comprises 340 rooms spread over 4 floors. The contract value amounts to 240,000 m³. The main entrance is at the Prakash Vir Shastri Avenue.

In the planning of New Delhi Edwin Landseer Lutyens bore the main responsibility for the construction of the palace of the viceroy. Its design is largely historicist and several features influences from Indian architecture record such as Chhatri and Jali. The plan saw two wings in front, one for the Viceroy, the other for guests. However, contrary to the original plan, the rulers always inhabited the smaller guest wing, while the larger wing is not used as a residence, but for state receptions and as a guest house for state visitors.

The construction period lasted from 1912 until 1929. Since 1950, the palace is the seat of the Indian President.
