Raspenava

Raspenava ( German Raspenau ) is a small town in the Czech Republic, it belongs to Okres Liberec

Geography

The city extends Isergebirgsvorland in the valley of the Wittig ( Smědá ) between the mouths of the rivers Libverdský Potok (Lieb Werder Bach), Sloupský Potok, Pekelský creek, brook and Holubí Lomnice. The local situation Raspenava is to the left of the Wittig, Lužec and Luh are located on the right bank of the river. To the north rise the Hadí Kopec ( 379 m) and the Chlum ( Hoher Hain, 495 m), east of the Pekelský vrch ( Höllberg, 487 m), in the southeastern Ořešník ( Nußstein, 800 m ), the Holubník ( pigeon house, 1070 m ) and the Ptačí Hills ( bird Koppen, 1013 m), south of the Vápenný vrch (424 m), the Svinské čelo ( Saukuppen, 781 m), the Poledník ( noon mountain, 864 m) and the Stržový vrch ( Grubberg, 704 m), in the southwest of Špičák ( Spitzberg, 724 m) and the Kanci vrch ( Black mountain, 680 m), west of the Podlesí (446 m) and the Nad Zátiším ( Hofmann mountain, 427 m) and in the northwest of the Supí vrch ( 388 m). On the southern outskirts of the village the railway line Liberec Zawidów from which the branch line Raspenava - Bily Potok pod Smrkem branching runs.

Neighboring towns are Krasny Les and Dolni Řasnice in the north, V Lukách, Hajniště, Nové Město pod Smrkem and Ludvíkov pod Smrkem in the northeast, Peklo and Libverda in the east, Hejnice and Ferdinandov the southeast, Filipka in the south, Filipov and Albrechtice u Frýdlantu in the southwest, Zátiší, Polní Domky Kristiánov and Dětřichov in the west and Větrov, Zámecký Okres, HAG and Frýdlant in the northwest.

History

At the end of the 14th century and today Raspenau eingemeindeten villages Mildenau ( Luh ) and mild oak ( Lužec ) were mentioned in the register of interest rule Friedland. The district Karolin Thal ( Peklo ) was only towards the end of the 18th century from isolated farms and gardens in Hölltal on the north side of the village.

In the 16th century Raspenau won by the mining of iron ore and the establishment of a hammer mill in importance, but disappeared again after the Thirty Years' War. It was only with the industrialization have been on a upswing; employed as the 1851 built in the district Mildenau Kammgarnspinnerei Anton Richter sons (originally Johann Liebieg & Comp. ) in 1929 over 1000 people.
