Rastow

Rastow is a municipality in the district of Ludwigsburg pleasure Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is administered by the Office Ludwigslust country located in the not office belonging Ludwiglust.

The municipality consists of the villages Rastow, Fahrbinde and Kraak as well as the settlements Kulow and Pulverhof.

Geography and transport

The community Rastow located about 20 kilometers south of Schwerin on the edge of the protected landscape Lewitz. Through the community run the Kraaker mill creek that opens into him stray creek and some ditches. Among the few standing water is one of the artificially created Kraaker Kiessee. The highest elevation within the municipal area is the Mill Mountain with 56 m above sea level. NHN east of the village Rastow.

The district Fahrbinde is located right on the main road 106 between the state capital Schwerin and Ludwigslust, the junction Wöbbelin to Federal Highway 24 is in sight. Rastow has a station on the railway line Ludwigslust -Wismar.

History

Rastow and Kraak were 1227 Fahrbinde first mentioned in 1333. Kraak was once the seat of the Commandery of the Knights Kraak. The Johanniterkirche Kraak dates from the 14th century. From records in 1700 show that there were in the country Magnificent Kraak and Rastow courtyards. Furthermore, in Kraak a hunting lodge, a grain mill and a powder mill are mentioned. The latter was most likely at the site of the present hamlet Pulverhof. In Rastow was a church that no longer existed, however, in 1700.

Kraak was incorporated on 1 January 1974, Fahrbinde on 1 January 2005. Rastow after 1990 was for some years the seat of the Office of the same name.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 21 September 2000 by the Home Office and registered under No. 228 of the coat of arms role of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Blazon: "Divided; a silver Maltese cross above in red; below erected in gold two red deer antler with averted ends. "

The coat of arms was designed by the Schwerin heraldist Heinz Kippnick.

The cross of St. John 's reference to the former seat of an Order - Commander in Kraak. The antlers are a symbol of the rich wildlife area. The colors red and gold stand for the old county of Schwerin.

Flag

The flag of the municipality is equally lengthwise stripes of gold ( yellow) and red; located in the middle of the flag cloth, on two thirds of the height of the golden ( yellow ) and the red stripe across, the municipal coat of arms. The length of the bunting is related to height as 5:3.

Economy

In Kraak built and operates the power company E.ON Hanse an underground natural gas storage ( underground storage ) in a salt dome in about 600 to 800 meters depth.
