Rat Burana District

Rat Burana ( Thai: ราษฎร์บูรณะ ) is one of the 50 districts (Khet ) of Bangkok, capital of Thailand. Rat Burana is located in the extreme south of the urban area.

Geography

The district Rat Burana is bounded on the north by a short piece of Khlong Dao Khanong and the Chao Phraya River, in the east at first by a small piece of Khlong Chaeng Ron, then the border is seemingly arbitrarily by a "Low Residential Zone" ( residential area with low development ) until it is formed in the west again through khlongs the Khlong Yai and Khlong Bang Jamphii Phakaeo, until it encounters the Suksawat Road. The Suksawat Road makes for some 100 m to the rest of the western boundary until it meets again on the Khlong Dao Khanong.

Neighbouring districts from the north clockwise: Thonburi, then situated on the other bank of the Chao Phraya River Bang Kho Laem and Yannawa, East Amphoe Phra Pradaeng ( in the province of Samut Prakan ), Thung Khru continue and Chom Thong.

History

When King Taksin of Thonburi as the new capital of Siam established, formed the area of ​​Rat Burana the border area. Subsequent administrative changes brought Rat Burana as a county ( Amphoe ) of the province of Thonburi and later for the now-defunct province of Phra Pradaeng. When this was dissolved in 1932 and incorporated for the most part in the province of Samut Prakan, the circle came back to Thonburi province. With the merging of the provinces of Thonburi and Phra Nakhon Bangkok to the city was to Rat Burana part of the city. In 1998 they separated from one part of Amphoe to form the District Thung Khru.

In addition, the Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway Expressway runs through the district. It leads from Chom Thong district on the Rama IX Bridge by district Bang Na, where she meets Sukhumvit Road. The extension is the Bang Na Expressway. Attractions

In the District Council Buana there are a total of seven Buddhist temples ( Wat ), including:

  • Wat Prasoet Sutthawat ( Thai: วัด ประเสริฐ สุทธาวาส ) - an ancient temple in the Chinese style of the Ayutthaya period. Interesting murals in ubosot in black ink that tell the " Legend of the Three Kingdoms ". The murals were under King Rama III. renovated.
