The Rat Verlegh Stadium is a football stadium in the Dutch city of Breda. The stadium is the home ground of Ehrendivisionärs NAC Breda and can accommodate 17 254 spectators. It is named after the football player Antoon "advice" Verlegh, who played from 1912 to 1931 at the NAC. After its opening in 1996 it was given the name FUJIFILM Stadium, in 2003 the name was changed to MyCom Stadium. On 1 July 2006, the stadium eventually got the name by which it was known for years in the vernacular: Council Verlegh Stadium. At the opening of the stadium could accommodate 17,064 spectators, of which 16,400 still available especially in the first season after adjustments.

History

Until August 1996 NAC Breda wore out its home games in the stadium at the NAC Beatrixstraat. Then the then 29 million guilders expensive Fujifilm stadium was opened on 11 August 1996. As part of the opening ceremonies, a friendly match between NAC Breda and SC Internacional of Porto Alegre found in Brazil, the eventual winner of the FIFA Club World Cup 2006 instead. The first official match took place on 16 August 1996 between NAC and FC Dordrecht, in which Stanley MacDonald scored the first goal in the Fujifilm Stadium. Apart Cup and championship games and friendly matches found on 12 February 2002 an international match between Turkey and Ecuador in the stadium. Furthermore, NAC Breda played in the UEFA Intertoto Cup against ES Troyes AC as well as in the UEFA Cup against Newcastle United.

Museum

Sub-block G, the NAC Museum, a museum, which provides information about the history of NAC Breda is located. It offers a collection of photos, flags, jerseys, trophies and game posters and other memorabilia. The museum can be visited both individually and in a group.

Expansion plans

There are plans to increase the stadium, to continue to around the stadium including a supermarket, a hotel and several office buildings arise. The planned cost of the project amounts to approximately 100 million euros.
