Rated R or R only - titled in the vinyl version Rated X and X - is the second studio album by the American rock band Queens of the Stone Age. It was recorded between December 1999 and February 2000, Van Nuys, California, and published on 6 June 2000 via Interscope Records.

Reception

The album was recorded mostly positive from music critics upon publication.

Steve Huey calls the album in his Allmusic review - set to guide the modern rock music of the new millennium and awarded 5 stars out of 5.

Spence D. of IGN Entertainment highlights in his record critics to Rated R especially the balance between fun and formality -. " It 's this expert balance of fun and formality is what makes the album damn near essential" - produced, which makes the album seem almost essential.

Martin Mengele of laut.de Rated R describes as "... colorful variety of songs that combines Chris Goss by his bluesy presence back into a unit. " And forgives 4 out of 5 possible points.

NME.com certifies that the major label debut of the band big impact and attribute a 9 out of 10 possible points.

Matthias Allstadt of Plattentests.de again attests to the Queens of the Stone Age, to have made it with Rated R definitely in the " Stoner - rock royalty " and also awarded 9 out of 10 possible points for that.

Ben Ratliff missed in his Renz Sion for the Rolling Stone music magazine 3.5 of 5 possible points. He emphasized the production quality and the variety of styles, was achieved in conjunction with producer Chris Goss for the album.

The U.S. online music service Rhapsody has put the album at # 1 its list of the best rock albums of the decade ( 2000-2010).

Single releases

The pieces Feel Good Hit of the Summer, Monsters in the Parasol and The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret were released as singles. Only The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret, however, was able to record significant success in the charts. A publication of the play Never Say Never was for promotional purposes.

Re-release as a Deluxe Edition
