The Rational AG, based in Landsberg am Lech is a service provider and a manufacturer of commercial and industrial kitchen equipment for the thermal preparation of food.
2012, the company generated 1,263 employees sales totaling 435 million euros (2011: € 391.7 million, 2010: € 350.1 million ). The net income in the same year to 93.3 million euros (2011: € 78.7 million, 2010: € 79.8 million ).
Rational is listed in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since March 3, 2010, and rose on 4 March 2009 at in the MDAX.
History
In 1973, the " Rational GmbH " by Siegfried Meister ( b. 1938 ) was established as a company for production and distribution of hot air devices in Germany. Three years later, the company began the manufacture of combi-steamers for commercial kitchens. In 2000, the " Rational GmbH" was transformed into a corporation. In addition to the Combi-Steamer include the SelfCookingCenter ( since 2004) and the VarioCookingCenter (since 2005, sales of the brand FRIMA ) to the product range of the company.
Since 1991, local sales companies were established in the following countries: United Kingdom (1991 ), France (1992 ), Japan (1992 ), United States (1993 ), Italy ( 1998), Scandinavia ( 1998), Switzerland (1999 ), Canada (1999 ), Spain ( 2000), Russia ( 2003), Austria (2005 ), Poland ( 2005), China ( 2007), Greece ( 2007), Middle East ( 2007), Ukraine ( 2007), Brazil (2009 ), India ( 2010) and Mexico ( 2012).
