Ratnasiri Wickremanayake

Ratnasiri Wickremanayake ( born May 5, 1933) is the 14th Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. On 21 November 2005, he was appointed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa and was sworn.

He had already occupied the rather representative office between August 2000 and December 2001. Under Mahinda Rajapaksa's predecessor Chandrika Kumaratunga, he was Minister of the Interior. After the victory of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in the 2004 election, he served as Minister of Buddhist Affairs, Security and Justice.

Wickremanayake rejects a Tamil state as well as from the autonomy of the northern provinces. Negotiations with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, he made depending on the setting of their terrorist activities.
