Rattail (haircut)

As a rat tail (also Rattail ) is called a thin, usually braided braid that grows behind the hairline. Frequently, the neck is down to a strip of hair that grows down the back, shaved.

The rat tail is also called fuse, tail, Swinserl, Sascha ponytail or in Bavaria also " Ratzenfrisur " (rats hairstyle) and mainly of children, especially boys worn. However, this hairstyle is to be found also in adults. In children, the hairstyle was especially popular in the late 1980s and the 1990s.

Two worn behind the ears open braids are also referred to as rat tails or pigtails. In English they are called pigtails or piggytails.
