Rauhhorn

The Rauhhorn seen from Gaishorn

The Rauhhorn ( even Rauhorn ) is a 2240 m ( also 2241 m) high mountain in the Allgäu Alps, on the border between Germany and Austria. It is located southwest from Gaishorn and south of the Geiseck. In the further course of the southern Rauhhornzugs is the ball horn.

The Rauhhorn is despite existing security cables recommended by both the north and from the south side only experienced climbers. Both paths require slip resistance and climbing agility and run over the heavily jagged rocky ridge and to the east and west rugged falling edges. The first ascended in 1962 by East wall is a challenging climbing route in the V. and VI. Difficulty. The route has been repeated times in the first ascent of six and ran from 1970 into oblivion.

In winter, the mountain is visited by ski mountaineers. There are beautiful but challenging runs northwest to Alpe Willers and east to Vilsalpsee. The summit itself, however in winter rarely enter. Usually, the tour ends at the beginning of the rocky north ridge.
