Raúl Spank

Raul Spank ( born July 13, 1988 in Dresden ) is a German high jumper.

Life

Spank graduated 2008, the Sports High School in Dresden and studied economics at the Technical University of Dresden.

At the World Junior Championships 2005 in Marrakech, he finished with 2.11 m in seventh place. A year later he was at the Junior World Championships in Beijing with 2.23 m fifth. 2007 Spank won at the European Junior Championships in Hengelo silver with 2.21 meters.

In 2006, Raúl Spank third in the German Championships in adult category. In 2008, he took second place at the German Indoor Championships. At the German Championships 2008 in Nuremberg and in 2010 in Braunschweig, he became German champion in the high jump. Spank was nominated for the Olympic Games in Beijing, where he ersprang fifth place with 2.32 m. This height meant for him personal best and national record -Saxon.

2009 Raúl Spank won the competition in the high jump at the German Indoor Championships. On 21 August 2009 he reached at the World Championships in Berlin with a height of 2.32 m, together with the Polish Sylwester Bednarek the bronze medal. 29 August 2009 Spank increased at the International High Jump Meeting in Eberstadt his personal best to 2.33 m and won with this level also the meeting.

At the German Indoor Championships 2012 Spank won with personal Hallenbestleistung of 2.32 meters. At the World Indoor Championships, which were held shortly thereafter in Istanbul, he reached number nine. The London Olympics, he missed due to injury.

He also showed Sprint qualities and improved in 2007 with the German A- Youth Championship in Athletics in Sindelfingen with the 4 x 200 - meter relay team of Dresdner SC 1898 the German youth indoor record of 1:26,34 min.

Spank starts for the Dresdner SC 1898. His coaches are former triple jumper Jörg Elbe and Erika fold. Spank has a competition weight of 77 kg at a height of 1.91 m. Spank lives in Dresden.
