Rauli Somerjoki

Rauli Aarre Tapani Somerjoki, also known as rauli " Badding " Somerjoki, ( born August 30, 1947 in Somero, Finland, † January 14, 1987 in Helsinki, Finland) was a Finnish rock musician and singer.

Somerjoki participated in the late 1960s on some projects by Mauri Antero Numminen. Among others, he took part at the Jyväskylä Kesä Festival and was a member of the underground rock band Suomen Talvisota 1939-1940. Together with Numminen he wrote the song " Valot ", specifically for Elvis Presley, but when the tapes sent to him by Memphis did not respond, Somerjoki took it easy on yourself. He is now an important part of Finnish popular music.

His breakthrough was the single Fiilaten höyläten yes, a cover version of the song Reelin 'and Rockin' by Chuck Berry. After his third album Sydän lämpöä täys to Somerjoki 1975 retired for several years, since he suffered from stage fright and got alcohol problems.

In 1981, he managed through his singles Kuihtuu kesäinen maa / Ensimmäisenä iltana and Paras haihtua vaan / Ikkunaprinsessa his comeback and even released six albums, with his most successful was Ikkunaprinsessa.

About Somerjokis life a movie called Badding was shot, who came to Finland in 2000 in the cinemas.
