RauteMusik.FM

RauteMusik (abbreviated RM or # music) is a German Internet radio. It consists of 21 branch stations and reaches approximately 4.2 million monthly listeners with a duty cycle of more than five minutes. In February 2012, the RauteMusik GmbH announced the start of the Hamburg-based media entrepreneur Frank Otto and the Northwest newspaper. In May 2013, the company announced brand legal action against the microblogging service Twitter, which probably is planning to launch its music service # music in Germany.

History

RauteMusik was launched on 20 April 2003 by Yehya El Omari into life. El Omari had previously gained experience with other Internet radio. The project became more and more in the aftermath of notoriety and asserted itself over other Internet radios. It was therefore increased due to growing demand for more radio channels and a community ( January 2005). In April 2005, the provider moved its official address temporarily to Lebanon to escape the increased fees of GVL. Later, however, the project participants reported on the radio back in Germany and first founded the charitable organization RauteMusik eV headquartered in Aachen, and later the # Musik GmbH in order to ensure the maintenance costs by an internal marketing can. Since 2012, the Hamburg-based media entrepreneur Frank Otto, son of the founder Werner Otto mail order, and the Northwest newspaper Oldenburg are involved in the company.

Currently, the project includes 21 thematic channels and a community of about 150,000 registered users. Also operates the RauteMusik GmbH since June 2012, the online magazine Krautsurfer.de that deals exclusively with the genres of metal and rock. Send all channels around the clock, and achieve together up to 36,000 listeners simultaneously. Over 300 presenters and DJs send a regular program. The platform works on the concept of crowdsourcing. Music will automatically play after a playlist moderated between broadcasts.

Origin of the name

The radio was on IRC QuakeNet network, in which the names of the cross-network chat rooms on the server side with the prefix of the hash symbol (# room name) are provided. In the occupied mainly by young computer gamers IRC network, it is common (preferred game clans ) to nominate their own projects after the chat space used, so as to increase its popularity. This trend eventually led to that was in the "Music " in the scene jargon "# music " ( RauteMusik ) and the name was officially recognized and adopted by the project.
