Rav Nachman

Rab Nahman bar Jacob (Raw Nachman ben Jacob ), usually simply Rab Nachman was an amora of the third generation in Babylon.

He was a student of Samuel (according to some even a pupil of Rab), in which his father held the position of a court clerk. Nachman was the son of Rabbah b. Abuha (and also his student? ) In Mahuza and hospitality of the Palestinian Isaac II In his house one was much occupied with Masora.

Although Nachman led not own school / yeshiva, but was a frequent participant in the discussions of the schools / Jeschivot in Sura and Mahuza.

He is not always to be distinguished precisely by his pupil Rab Nahman bar Isaac.

He died in the year 320
