Rav Zeira

Rab Zera I was an amora of the third generation.

He came from Babylonia, was a pupil of Rab Yehudah bar Jechezqel, he went against his will to Palestine. There he entered into close relations with Ammi, Assi and Abbahu.

As a student Zeras especially Jeremiah, Abba b apply. Zebina and Chaggai.

Rab Zera I. is not to be confused with the later Palestinian Zera, who was a disciple of Jeremiah.

Rab Zera I. was no friend of the Haggadah: The Haggadah can turn back and forth, and we learn nothing from her ( Pallet Talmud Maasserot III 51a. ).
