Ravda

Rawda (also Ravda, Bulgarian Равда ) is a village in the municipality of Nessebar in Bulgaria, in the province of Burgas. Rawda is located on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

Location

Rawda is located in the northern part of the Burgasebene, in the Gulf of Burgas. In the north of the village adjacent to the community center of Nessebar and the largest tourist resort of Bulgaria - Sunny beach. Rawda is approximately 20 km north of Bourgas airport.

History

Rawda was founded in 1924 by Bulgarian refugees from what is now northern Greece (→ Macedonian Bulgarians ). They came primarily from the Macedonian places Athyra and Koufalia in Thessaloniki, some families but from micro Monastiri, Paralimni, Kastaneri, Rachona, Krya Vrysi, Galatades, Axos.

During the socialist period Rawda was known for its summer camp. Since the democratization of the country in the early 1990s many new hotels and resorts have emerged.

Traffic

Rawda is connected to the public transport network of the municipality of Nessebar, and buses run between Ravda and Nessebar every 20 min and between Rawda and Burgas every 30 min. In addition, there is the possibility to arrive with water taxis to the places in the Bay of Burgas.
