Ravilloles

Ravilloles is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Ravilloles is located on 625 m above sea level. M., about seven kilometers northwest of the town of Saint- Claude ( a straight line ). The village is located in the Jura, slightly elevated on a ridge between the Lison and a side stream at the southern foot of Mont de la Bosse.

The area of ​​7.79 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The southern part of the municipality is occupied by the basin of the Lison, which drains the area south to Bienne. This basin forms the northern extension of the Plateau du Lizon. It is bounded on the east by the height of the Bois de Cuttura (up to 820 m above sea level. M. ). To the northwest, the municipality's area extends in a heavily chambered area where multiple terrain ribs are oriented towards south-southwest - north- northeast, according to the strike of the Jurassic and are subdivided by longitudinal valleys or the transverse valley of Lison. History

Since the Middle Ages Ravilloles belonged to the dominion of the Abbey of Saint -Claude. In 1520 the village was awarded certain liberties. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Population

With 520 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Ravilloles is one of the small towns in the Jura. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the range of about 330 people, a significant population increase has been recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Ravilloles has long been a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially livestock and dairy farming, as well as by the forestry village. The traditional wood turning was mechanized in 1830 and moved to factories. The water power of the Lison, which is dammed in two places, was used for energy production and for the operation of mills. Today, there are some operations of small businesses, including a wood processing company. Many workers are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the secondary road D118 which leads from Lavans -lès -Saint- Claude to Clairvaux- les -Lacs. Further road links exist with Saint -Laurent -en- Grandvaux and Cuttura.
