RawTherapee

RawTherapee is a RAW converter with image editing functions. He draws on DCRaw, but unlike other such programs exclusively for reading RAW files. For image development RawTherapee uses contrast their own algorithms. He is currently available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X ( 10.6, 10.7 and 10.8 ) and will actively developed. On 4 January 2010 RawTherapee licensed under the GNU General Public License ( GPL) and is, therefore, since free software.

Application

RawTherapee offers very advanced configuration options that do not offer many commercial converters, such as floating-point processing, white and black point compensation on RAW level, contrast per level of detail pyramidal noise filter or setting the output curve. On the other hand missing functions for mass management of image files or bildausschnitt selective processing as they have other RAW converter. Therefore RawTherapee is often used in addition to existing image processing programs specifically for difficult shots.

Support

RAW image formats typically offer a higher color depth (10 to 16 bits per channel) ( usually 8 bits per channel ) and are also either not or, if so, lossless compressed JPG files. Therefore, it is useful to first perform image changes at high color depth with the raw data, and then save the result as a JPG file.

( Created as the universally interchangeable DNG format or using the advanced camera firmware CHDK. CRW files ) In addition to RAW files support RawTherapee JPG ( 8 bit), PNG (8 or 16 bit) and TIFF ( 8 or 16 bit ) as input data.

Any changes to the images to be performed RawTherapee 3.0 at 16 bits per (color) channel. The version 3.1, however, use floating-point arithmetic and have the potential to continuously count per channel.

Additional function

Unlike other RAW converter can RawTherapee AMAZE, DCB and EAHD as an algorithm for removing static image error (also known as demosaicing ).
