The Rax, also referred Rax, is a mountain range in the Northern Limestone Alps in the Styrian and Lower Austrian border.
The highest elevation of the Kalkstockes that runs from the southwest to the northeast and has a high surface area of approximately 34 km ², is the Heukuppe to 2007 m above sea level. A., which is located in Styria. The Scheib forest height 1943 m is the highest point on the Rax in Lower Austria.
Geography and Geology

The Raxstock is from Wettersteinkalk (formerly "lower alpine limestone " ) built up a stable and fine-textured limestone that builds the typical powerful, steep-sided mountain ranges of the Alps. It comes from the Ladinian (Middle Triassic) and is approximately 230 million years old. With the folding of the Alps, he has slipped to the east.

Ski resort at the Rax

History
