Ray Barlow

Raymond John "Ray" Barlow ( born August 17, 1926 in Swindon, † March 14, 2012 in Bridgend, Wales ) was an English footballer.

The half- links occurred in August 1944 to the second division side West Bromwich Albion, where he played a total of 482 games until the summer of 1960 and scored 48 goals; this includes both inserts in the Football League (403 games, 31 goals) as well as games in the FA Cup ( five goals in 46 games). In February 1945, Barlow had his first game for the " Baggies " denied in the Wartime League Cup, before he made his debut at the start of season 1946/47, the 7:2 victory over AFC Newport County in the second division. One of the greatest successes Barlow with the team include the promotion to the first division in 1949 and winning the runner-up and the FA Cup in 1954. After another year and five league games without scoring at Birmingham City, he finished in the summer of 1961, his professional career.

On October 2, 1954 Barlow came to his only international match for the English national team; in the 2-0 victory over Northern Ireland, he stood for 90 minutes on the court.

Barlow was honored in 2004 as one of the 16 best players of his longtime club West Bromwich Albion; he died after a long illness at the age of 85 years, leaving three children.
