Ray Ferraro
Ray Ferraro ( born August 23, 1964 in Trail, British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player of Italian descent, who from 1984 to 2002 for the Hartford Whalers, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Atlanta Thrashers and St. Louis Blues played in the National Hockey League. His son Landon is also a professional hockey player.
Career
Only after he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1982 by the Hartford Whalers in round 5 as 88, he went to the WHL Portland Winter Hawks to the. After a good season, he moved within the League Brandon Wheat Kings to where he achieved remarkable 107 goals and 192 points scorer.
The Whalers took him to the 1984/85 season in their squad. This season, he still traveled between farm team and NHL. A year later he was fully arrived in the NHL and helped with 77 points in 76 games Hartford to five years playoff abstinence in the final round to collect. He scored four more years of the mainstays of the team before it was delivered to the New York Islanders shortly after the beginning of the season 1990/91. The second of the five years with the Islanders was his best season in which he came up with 80 points scorer with 40 goals and assists. The following year, he missed due to injury half the season.
For the 1995/96 season he moved within New York to the Rangers, but already the Trading Deadline nearing end of the season he left Manhattan and went to the Los Angeles Kings. On three mediocre years in LA followed by three successful years with the Atlanta Thrashers, who were newly included in the NHL. He was also captain in his final season. Late in the 2001/ 02 season, he was discharged to the St. Louis Blues. After the season, he finished his playing career at the age of 37 years.
Today Ferraro works as a hockey analyst in the environment of the Edmonton Oilers for various television stations.
He is married to his second wife Cammi Granato, who was captain of the U.S. women's national ice hockey.
