Ray June

Ray June ( born March 27, 1895 in Ithaca, New York, † May 26, 1958 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American cinematographer.

Life

Ray June worked as a cameraman during his military service in the First World War. After a relatively short time as a camera assistant he turned in 1921 as chief cameraman films rather average importance. Only after the introduction of sound he had the opportunity for more demanding activities. Among the films of this period include, for example Flowering nonsense with the Marx Brothers. After his move to MGM, he was responsible for the photography of numerous films with superstars such as Jean Harlow and Clark Gable. After another few years, again with less significant films and the departure of MGM June was able to continue with movies like The Court Jester back on earlier successes.
