Ray Slijngaard

Ray Slijngaard ( born June 28, 1971 in Amsterdam, born Raymond Lothar Slijngaard ) is a Dutch rapper and was a member of the Dutch Euro Dance Volume 2 Unlimited. Together with singer Anita Doth he had with the band in the early 1990s some chart success.

Life

Slijngaard is the only child of a Dutch mother and a father who comes from the former Dutch colony of Surinam. Born and raised in Amsterdam, it was formed in March 1991 at the age of 19 with Doth, whom he knew from the Amsterdam club scene to the project 2 Unlimited. The production was the duo of Belgian producers Jean -Paul De Coster and Phil Wilde.

Slijngaard took over the role in the duo of rapper, and Doth performed as lead singer on - one at this time in the style Euro Dance very common constellation. Between 1991 and 1996, the duo had worldwide success and numerous hits.

After 2 Unlimited in 1996 broke up, Ray turned his attention increasingly to his record label X - Ray Records / Rayvano Productions. He named the label after his son Rayvano. In 1999, he teamed up with rapper Marvin D and founded the rap group VIP Allstars. However, the duo achieved significant success with the title Mamacita.

In 2009 it was announced that there will be a reunion with Anita Doth. This was also confirmed by both.

On the " I Love The 90's Party " in Belgium Slijngaard was after 13 years back together with his former bandmate Anita Doth on stage. There was also another appearance in 2009 on "Queens Day" in the Netherlands, in which the two played the previous 2 Unlimited- Hits. In 2010 Slijngaard and Doth had a brief comeback. Since they no longer had the rights to the band name " 2 Unlimited ", it appeared under the name " Ray & Anita ". The first single In Da Name of Love was released January 2010. A planned album, however, was not implemented.

Ray Slijngaard now lives with his family mainly in Dusseldorf.
