Ray Thomas

Ray Thomas ( born December 29, 1941 in Stourport -on-Severn, Worcestershire ) is a British pop musician who was best known as a member of the Moody Blues.

He was in 1964 among the founding members of the group and belonged to her until his long-awaited retirement in 2002. He participated as a singer and songwriter, his main instruments were the flute and harmonica. Cult status reached its Timothy Leary devoted Title Legend of a Mind from the year 1968.

During the " creative break " the Moody Blues 1973-1978 Ray Thomas published two solo LPs, the first of which was commercially quite successful, while the second was not listed in the charts. He has not pursued later after the reunion of the band or after leaving more solo projects, but there was a 2010 re-release of both albums as a box set with the additional, newly recorded song The Trouble With Memories.

2002 Thomas left the band and retired into private life, partly due to health and age reasons, partly probably because of a certain alienation from the Moody Blues, in which he had played a central role in years. While he was replaced as excellent flutist by the US-American Norda Mullen, miss him a lot of fans of the group as a songwriter and " Welsh baritone ".

Ray Thomas had started the end of the 50s with the Saints & Sinners and later frontman of El Riot and the Rebels.
