Raymond Eid

Raymond Eid ( born August 6, 1930 in Mazraat el Dahre; † 11 June 2012) was a Maronite Archbishop of Damascus.

Life

Raymond Eid received on 30 May 1957, the ordination of the Eparchy of Sidon.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on June 5, 1999 Archbishop of Damascus.

The Maronite Patriarch of Antioch, Cardinal Nasrallah Pierre Sfeir, donated to him on November 20th of that year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Tanios El Khoury, Bishop of Sidon, and Emile Eid, Vice- President of the Commission for the codification of the Eastern Churches law.

In 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. its age-related resignation.
