Raymond Forni

Raymond Forni ( born May 20, 1941 in Belfort, † January 5, 2008 in Paris) was a French politician of the PS.

Life

Born the son of Italian immigrants in France, Forni took the age of seventeen a French citizen. In 1962, he graduated from high school and then studied law.

1973 Forni was elected for the first time in the National Assembly. In parallel, he was from 1979 to 1984 the European Parliament to. In 1981 he became chairman of the legal committee of the French parliament. In 1985 he resigned his seat, as François Mitterrand appointed him head of the Haute Autorité de la communication audiovisual. This office he held until the abolition of authority a year later.

In the next elections in 1988 Forni came back in and was able to return to the National Assembly. However, five years later, he lost his seat when he was not re-elected. 1997, however, managed to return to parliament. From 1998, he was Vice President, between March 29, 2000 and June 18, 2002 Chairman of the National Assembly. He has not been elected to Parliament in 2002.

Since 2004 he was president of the Regional Council of Franche -Comté and had this position until his death in January 2008. Forni died at the Hôpital Saint -Louis in Paris from the effects of leukemia.
