Raymond I, Count of Toulouse

Raimund I. († 865) from the family of Raimundiner was a Count of Rouergue and Quercy since 849 and Count of Toulouse and Albi since 852 He was the younger son of Fulcoald, the missus in the Rouergue and the Senegundis.

Like his older brother Raymond Fredelo supported the king Charles the Bald in the fight against King Pepin II of Aquitaine. For this he was encumbered with the 849 Rouergue and Quercy. The county of Toulouse he inherited probably around 852 after the death of his brother. He extended his influence in the Limousin, by forcing the Count of Turenne Gotfred into submission and took control of the abbeys of Solignac and Beaulieu. Around the year 862/863 Raymond founded the Benedictine abbey of Vabres. At the same time he was attacked by the rebellious Humphrey of Gothia and forced to give up his possessions. Raimund died 865, while he was still fighting for its possession; his son could but in the same year, supported by king Charles the Bald, gain the inheritance again.

Raimund married Bertha, daughter of Remy ( Remigius ), which is 863 testified, and with whom he had several children:
